The is part of the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) Department within the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Delaware . It shares a building with The College School . The is equipped with: three large classrooms observation booths for families, University students, faculty, and researchers to observe young children in a natural setting. a spacious, light-filled art studio, an outdoor playground, with a cobblestone bike path, natural arbors, a playhouse, a sandbox, swings, climbers, and slides. Beyond the playground is the beloved nature trail, with bridges, creeks and wooded areas. From our Lab School Families: “My family loves the Lab School! Both of my children, including one with special needs, have been with the school since they started in the 2s classroom with Ms. Debbie. Hands down, they are the best early childhood educators in the state. The lead teachers in each classroom are simply amazing – not just for my children, but for me and my husband as well. They give the parents such wonderful advice and support. The classrooms are designed to foster curiosity and a love of learning. They focus on the social-emotional development of your child – from how to enter a group of kids playing to yoga. They integrate nature and the classroom seamlessly, including having an option to take an entire year of nature school for 3 and 4-year-olds. Each classroom also has an observation room so you can watch anytime you want (it can be addicting).
